Shortening supply trunk?

1 Attachment(s)
Thanks in advance for any advice you may offer. I am in the process (just beginnning) of finishing my basement. I would like to crop the supply trunk line of one side (left side) and reroute the 7" ducting up into the rafters (the black is already in the rafters - green area on pic) so I do not have to build a soffit. The ducts currently supply the floor directly overhead (great room). Other than my I-beam, this would virtually be the only obstruction I have on the one side of my ceiling. As far as the other side goes, I am leaving it, and building a soffit, as it will be mostly unused space (storage). My plans are to put in a drop, but I would still like to be able to do this. If this is feasible, and if so, how far back can I crop the trunk line? Should I use a T-connector on top of the trunk or give them dedicated runs? If I need to clarify my drawing, please ask.

Thanks,
B

well since the pros here and the other guys are probably still working to make a living .....

Pretty demanding for a guy who's looking for free info.

I know I won't be offering any advice.

Didn't 'yo Mama ever teach you patience or that you can catch more flys with sugar than you can with vinegar?

I have just one question, are you an engineer or maybe mid-level exec?

thanks for hijacking my post to query whether or not your "bud" was toasty on the roof....

If that's the case and you were on the roof - please accept my apology.
It just seems as if the average question has received an answer or at least a consideration in well less than 60 some odd hours.

You have a question? Engineer or mid-level exec? I'll tell you what - answer mine first, then I'll oblige....

Do you have heat? If the answer is yes then wait until we can get to your question. If you can't, then maybe you should call a pro:wink:
