short cycling furnace ?

Hey guys, I have a goodman gmp-100-4 80,000 Btu output furnace. My question is what is considered short cycling? I have timed the on and off times and came up with an average of 7 minutes on and 10 minutes off.

sounds short but it depends where you live, how cold it is, how well house is insulated, possible drafts by tstat etc. I would expect 15 mins off. some elec tstats have a cycles per hour adj in the menu. cheap ones don't.

yuri, i don't have an expensive tstat just a basic digital one. the insulation is poor. only r-19 in the attic floor.tator, i have 2: bay windows about 4'x7' in the room with the tstat. they are roughly 15 years old. they are double pane glass but they do get pretty cold. thanks guys.

then your cycles are normal. even a more expensive elec type will give U those cycles but you can try one and tweak it a bit to possibly make them longer, will feel chilly though. won't decrease your gas bill either. need better insulation and door stripping etc.
