short AC compresser capacitor life

I have an ~18 year old Goodman AC unit. It works fine, never been recharged and no issues with the unit itself. THe problem I'm having is that in its old age it eats capacitors more and more often. The original cap lasted ~14 years. The next one 2.5-3. The latest died after 14 months- basically one season.
I realize everything is made in China now, and these are $10 parts on ebay, but this still seems extreme. Is there anything that could cause premature cap death that I can control? Can I buy US mfg capacitors? Are they any better?
When I replaced this cap, I cleaned the male wire terminals on the starter/contact unit which were quite rusty. ANything else I can do or anything that can cause this?

What JJBOY is showing you is an American made cap.The Mexican,Chinese and other imports are real weak and has been the source of headaches for a number of years.

I've seen capacitors that were bad right out of the box. As others have said, buy American made caps, and you'll get much longer life (of course, you'll spend about 4X as much, but you get what ya pay for).

Yes, the condenser has been hosed out and is clean.

Thanks for the US capacitor link.

"Hosed out" is normally not good enough to really clean a condenser. You will get much better results using a chemical specially designed to clean the coil. I believe the big box stores sell those chemicals, or you can buy a gallon of it a the HVAC parts house and mix it yourself. Just be sure that you use the correct ratios - they don't work too well if they're not mixed correctly.

Grainger caps (Dayton and Genteq) are all made in China. Sad.... but true.
