Set Points
What differential do you guys recommend before aux heat comes on? I have an all electric two stage heat pump. It was a bit chilly this morning so I cut the heat on for the first time this year. If the set temp gets more that one degree away from the current temp, the aux heat cuts on. If I leave it like that, those heat strips will always be running ($$$$). I had some work done earlier in the year, so I think my set points got tinkered with....

2 degrees and consider putting in an outdoor stat to lockout the aux heat strips until the outdoor temp drops below a certain point.

If you leave your thermostat set at one temp. Then the strips won't come on unless the heat pump can't handle the load, or it goes into defrost.
