RUUD model serial #
I went up in the attic to seal some leaks in my duct's. There is a sticker on my Air handler. Not totaly legible, but some cleaner, flashlight and reading glasses, I came up with this.

Model# ULAB 1008B Serial# TN1487 6655

Not 100% sure on all. Except the 48 in the serial # This is a 4 ton unit  !!!!!!????? Can't be. Maybe I am reading it wrong??? I've had 2 contractors tell me it's a 2 ton. Is there a date in here also??

Theres a date in there some where.
Can't tell you where though.

But, size is never in the serial number. Its always in the model number.

Should be a 2.5 ton.

If I'm thinking right the first four digits in of a Ruud SN are the mfg date. Looks like yours was made the 14th week of 1987.

Thanks for the responses!! I did a web search and nothing on the net seems to resemble my numbers.
I saw the 48 and thought 4 tons no wonder this unit does not run much!!
From the looks of this unit it could be 23 years old, I'm impressed.
According to the neighbors the homeowner who put it in was an AC contractor and he put it in about 18 years ago. He may have taken it from another house.
Thanks again JIm

Post the model number of the outdoor unit, the size will be in it.

Everything on the outside unit has been painted over except the electrical schematic. But thanks. JIm
