The pilot light starts and the furnance gets hot, but the fan won't turn on. There is a whiring noise like it is trying to start. Is this something I can fix myself? It needs to be fairly easy or have specific directions. We can't get a repairman until late tomorrow and it is cold. Model UGUJ-03NA-CR. There was a small burning smell the other night, like wires burning. It could have been the furnace??? Thanks! Suzy
The capacitor for the blower motor is either dead or you have a dead spot on the armature. If you are careful you could spin the fan by hand and then turn on the power while it's spinning to get it started, then leave the fan switch on the thermostat on to keep it running til you get service.
