Ruud Electric Heating Furnace
I just purchased this home, I have a Ruud electric furnace model
UBHA-17J14SFDA s/n T M3198 03252 ( I have always had gas )
The heat coming through the vents does not seem to be hot enough, just warm. The thermostat is programable, it is set on 62 at night and goes to 68 at 6:30 AM. It take two hours to get the temp to 68 and I am having big electric bills.
I have googled this problem and found strange answers, most reccommend a service dealer, however, many did not get results after more than one service call.
I am a SR citizen on fixed income and can't afford multiple service calls or large bill that might not fix the problem.
What do I need to check myself before calling in the Pro ?
In Texas, you most likely have central A/C. Is it possible that it is also a heat pump.
Do you have a volt meter, and an amp probe?
Do you know how many KW your strip heater package is.
Electric resistance heat is expensive.

I have no idea what all this means, I know that electric heat may be high as you said, my concern is the air coming from the vents is only warm, and it takes a long time to raize the temp a few degrees.
Any suggestions ?
Your model may or may not have what Rheem called a watt restrictor. Or watt saver.
It limits teh amount of strip heat coming on.
It could be bad, and not allowing all the heat to come on. Or, one of your strips could be bad.
Need meters to test all of that though.
