RUUD A/C Unit Not Working After Storm

After a storm Saturday night(while we were sleeping) we woke to find that we had no a/c. It will not make a sound the outside unit will not come on at all. My husband replaced the boards on the outside and under neath the house and checked the breakers and all that good stuff. We had someone check the boost and the relay as well and those are working fine. Does any one have any suggestions as to what to check for next?

Thanks - Patricia

Not sure what a boost is on an ac. Do your mean the inside air handler that circulates air through the ductwork? If the relay (contactor), which is operated by the 24 volt transformer in the air handler, is pulling in I would suggest, if you have not already, is use a voltmeter to measure the voltage on the output side of the relay. No 230 volts = bad contacts on the relay. Normally the contactor turns on both the compressor and condenser motor (fan). If neither one works I don't have a clue accept maybe a lightning strike fried it? Pretty unlikely I guess. Also, if there is no voltage on the output side measure the input to make absolutely sure your getting voltage from the breaker. If you don't have a voltmeter there are many sources (Harbor Freight for one) for cheap ones that will do the job just fine. Handy little tool to have around anytime.

Houston.

If you are going to give helpfull advise to DIYers.
Then on this site, you may include a link to your web site.

But put it in your sig. Not in the middle of the post where it makes no sense. And may be mistook for spam.
