Im installing a new trunk for my basement that will only be used for heating. I also plan on installing zone dampers and a bypass later on.
In one spot I cannot tap off the top of the trunk. I either have two ideas, one is to tap the side using an oval elbow and the other is to tap the bottom of the trunk.
If I tap the side using an oval elbow, do you think Ill be able to use the below fitting within the 5" space I have between the trunk and joist as shown below? I was planning on modifying the oval fitting and making tabs to install in the trunk or screw to the side of the trunk.
If I tap the bottom of the trunk I only have about 2" between the trunk and drywall. Is that do able?
