Rheem warranty question.

Ok one for the A/C pro's last year i had a rheem package unit installed, its a townhouse with the unit on the roof well last night the unit stopped cooling so i call the people that installed and sold me the unit, warranty is 5 year on the complete unit, make a long story short they want to charge me 250 labor to switch out the compressor which went out on the unit parts free not the labor, anyone have an insight on how rheems warranty work generally! Thanks

rheems warranty is just that... for the part. Any type of labor warranty would be through the installing contractor. That is other than some other type of extended warranty if you purchased one.

Rheem's warranty is the industry standard. Its a Limited Warranty. Limited to the part only. You could have bought an extended warranty that included labor. but your contractor probably didn't tell you about it.

If it was installed less then 365 days ago, then it should be under the contractor's labor warranty.

Compressors don't generally go out on their own, usually a cause outside of the compressor. After the compressor is swapped out, they should look for and correct the cause. So you don't lose a compressor every year.
