rheem package unit no heat
Had to turn on the heat for the first time yesterday and it would not come on, the thermostat clicks but the unit does not come on at all, nothing. the model number is rrgg-10e36jkr, just hoping someone could give some tips on what it could be and the first things I need to check. Thanks.

If your thermostat is battery operated, or a regular mechanical one. make sure the power to the furnace is turned on.

Sorry but I don't have much experience with these package units, a/c works fine heat doesn't come on at all. Its a gas furnace but there is no pilot light, was just wondering if anything tends to go out on this unit or what to check first.
Thanks |

If you have a multimeter. get it out and start checking to see if the inducer is getting voltage.

when the hacks installed my package unit, the heat was not working. Turned out that the gas valve was closed inside the unit

Thanks for the replies, sorry for not getting back sooner, but just to let you know it was a ground wire that got disconnected when I changed out the fan motor over the summer. I can break'em a lot easier than I can fix'em, I guess. Thanks again.

Ok back again, my heater is doing the same thing but the ground wire that was not connected is connected so that's not it.
When I turn on the heat I hear the thermostat click but no heat blows from the vents, I can however switch it to cool and air will blow form the vents. This is a package unit, so when I go outside the exhaust is running on the unit and hot air is coming out, also the return air vent is warm on the inside of the house. Someone mentioned the inducer the first time I posted, how does one go about testing that? |

It wouldnt be the inducer, because it's producing heat. The return vent is warm from gravity. You say the blower runs when you switch it to cool, so the blower motor is fine also. |

Follow the wires back from the blower to whatever controls it. Once you find what controls the blower see if it's getting high and low voltage. Needless to say you need a meter to check these things.
