Rheem Furnace Issues

I have a Rheem Classic Series SuperQuiet 80 furnace that has an electronic ignition. The purge fan blows, the burners ignite and then after 8 seconds or so, it goes out. I have replaced the safety switch and the flame sensor and still have this problem. Any thoughts????

Clean the new sensor with fine clean emory paper AND clean the face of the burner it sits in front of. Works on a tiny microamp signal from the sensor thru the burner and back to the circuit board.

Had a rheem that was doing this a couple weeks ago. The vaccum switch wasn't staying closed. Put a v.m. on vaccum switch & see if that is what's happening

Kenmac et al: a real life Rheem issue for you. The 92% highs have a problem with flame liftoff from the burners and nuisance flame failures if the intake gets partially plugged. Increases the velocity thru the burner box and causes liftoff. Learned that one the long hard way. Their mids are prone to pressure switch intermittent sticking problems also.

Cheers

Thanks for the heads up on the 92% rheems... The reason I posted about the vaccum switch Is the one I worked on was an 80%... If I'am not mistaken he listed an 80 %

With your example if it ran for 8 seconds it sounds like when it gets a snoot full of exhaust/loads up the exchanger the draft may be borderline and it starts to drop out. I don't see too many of them but I like their spark ignition and have not had a lot of trouble with their boards.

With the exception of the smart valve ( which I totally despise)I tend to like hot surface ign... I did like the direct spark ign mods. But it seems like all brands are getting away from direct spark.. Have no idea why .. I liked to hear the loud buzzzzzz Then ignition
