Rheem condenser fan motor constant run

I still have not fixed the problem. I cannot get the old fan blade off the old motor. I guess I could hook the motor up to see if that is the problem but I have not got that far yet.

Remove that square nut that tightens and holds the fan shroud to the motor axle and drop some oil in there. Let that oil do it's thing. WD-40 or any type of household motor or even cooking oil will work but you might have to apply some and then apply some more into that hole and all over that shaft while giving it time to penetrate.

What you don't want to do is smack that shaft, especially the end of it or you'll be needed to cut it to remove the blades.

After oiling it up: with an adjustable wrench grab the shaft (one side at the least will be flat of that shaft, where the square bolt tightens onto) and then twist that fan shroud. It will loosen. Might need to take some sandpaper to the shaft to knock off any rust and whatnot on what you can get to but again, do not smack that shaft at all!

It will come off.

Rheem condenser fan motor constant run

So an update for those that might care.

I sourced a new motor from Granger. The new motor came with its own capacitor. I have it all installed now and the motor does not spin now when the unit is just idle not running the compressor. My only concern now is there is a slight humming noise coming from the motor unless I set the blades in a certain orientation. Any idea of what that could be caused by?

Thank you

Not sure what you mean by certain orientation.

Let's say that the fan blade is pointed at 3 and 9 and it makes the Humm. If I move the blades to the 4 - 10 position Iddon't hear it. Does that help?

That would generally indicate a problem with the motor itself.

So my new motor is bad? I thought it was an indicator that something else was wrong with the system.

Sounds like one of the windings has a slight shut in it.
