return flow calculations?

If a 25x25 return yields 1000-1300.
What does a 12x12 yield if it's delivered through a 6 inch or 8 inch duct?
Can 6 inch return 300 cfm?

No.

If it did, you wouldn't be able to hear anything else in that area but the air rushing through the 6" duct.

Using your base example of 1000 cfm for a 25 X 25, a 6 " duct would provide about 44.7 cfm. ....so NO.
