Return Air Velocity

I there an ideal FPM number for residential return air velocity?

I read once that Manual D return air maximum velocity is 700 fpm. Not sure if that is correct. Is there a minimum?

I also believe that I read that the lower the velocity, the better the filter works. And the higher the velocity, the more air movement noise and lower filter efficieny.

Can the velocity be too low?

What FPM range do you normally try to stay within?
