Return air for the basement

I need to install a return air register for my bassement. The part I'm unsure of is the fresh air for the cumbustion for my furnace and hot water heater. Right now its the entire basement. I guess this space is really not conditioned yet. But where do I pull fresh air when it is finished. I can't put a return air grate for the utility room from the finished space can I?

Yes, you can install grilles to let the furnace and water heater pull combustion air from the finished space.

Need 2, 1 upper within 12" of the ceiling, and 1 lower within 12" of the floor.
