Reset my oil burner, shut off again after 48 hours?

Hi everyone,
A few days ago I woke up with no hot water and heat, and the burner wasn't turning on. I called up my oil company and they instructed me to hit the reset button, which got it running again.

Burner ran fine for 2 days, then same issue again. I reset it one more time (the last time, I won't do it again,) and it's been running fine all day.

When I get to work today I'll be scheduling technician, but I wanted to drop in here first to see if anyone might have any thoughts. My oil tank is filled to about 1/8th. We've had some intensely hot + humid days here this week, and I don't know if it might be related.

Pic attached.

Thanks!
Jack

When was the line filter replaced last, and how full is the tank now (ie gallons, not height in the tank)?

Unsure of filter. Is it common practice to inspect + replace the filter during a cleanout? If so, then probably 5 months to a year ago.

I looked around my tank and the nozzle where they fill it outside; I can't seem to find anything but a height gauge, so I'm not too sure how many gallons I have. I can say without a doubt that it's been under 1/4 full all summer though.

Does this sound like a typical issue related to the filter or fuel? (Something like condensation in the tank would be totally unsurprising. For the past month here, I've been able to cut the air into blocks 8|)

Thanks!
Jack

Who ever fills up the tank, should be able to tell you how many gallons were last filled, and when the filter was changed out.

Tank sounds low probably picking up sludge off the bottom of the tank and clogging the filter.. Some oil pickups are right on the bottom of the tank and some are raised up a couple inches off the bottom. Get your tank filled install a new filter, bleed the air out and restart your burner. When the company comes to fill your tank shut your burner off a couple hours so as not to pick up any thing that was stirred up from the bottom.
