replacing wire inside ac unit

I had a fire inside an ac unit. Almost all the wires and capacitor are burned. I can see where the fire started from a wire arcing against the metal. All the wire in this ac unit seems to be aluminum wiring. I bought thwn wire that is rated higher than the aluminum wire and I even bought the correct colors and new connectors. My question is, will thwn wire be ok to use inside the unit? I cant think of any reason why It wouldnt be. The only thing I can think of is maybe the aluminum wire is used because of the vibration?

Also, one more question. Have you guys ever used a hard start kit in place of a ptcr?

Aluminum wire was used to save money.

You can use a hard start in place of a PTC.
