Replacing radiator needing flexi extenders?

As part of a shower room upgrade I am also changing a 25 year old radiator. Its modern equivelent has differently spaced valve centres to the old one which means a system drain down and adjustments to the pipe positioning ,or connecting with a small length flexible connector. Does anyone know of any reason why a flexible should not be used? It would save me a difficult job if it is possible. Your comments please members!

What is the difference in spacing? If the new rad is shorter you can get valve extenders. I think that the main reason that a flexi should not be used is it will look bloody awful, and they are generally used for taps and may not take the higher temperatures of central heating.
