You get what you pay for. If you wanted a cheap WIFI stat You definately got it.
Yo Tech lighten up it is what it is the guy bought a thermostat he's just looking for a little help not to get his ass chewed out for a purchase.
Hampton Bay is known for ceiling fans I have a bunch of their $20 dollar stats out there for emergency and not one has broken or gave me any trouble. I know I know if it ain't Honeywell forgetaboutit. Believe me I've had many problems with Honeywell quite a few times. Your paying for the name. Let me have it all you nay sayers.
No Warranty Means- If it breaks in half you get to keep both halves.
The Nest isn't usable in this case. It doesn't work with variable speed fans.
I have this specific model of thermostat as well. I can't use the Nest (or practically any other standard thermostat) because the system I'm connecting to has a variable speed fan.
Hint to anyone considering a nest, check you existing system first and make sure you see the "normal" labels (those one/two letters) and that the wires are NOT stranded. If you see either, do yourself a favour and contact Nest first (you can email them a picture at email@example.com)
Boy thats all I need, Bill Gates controlling the heat in my house. "reset thermostat to 70 degrees" "Are you sure you want to reset your thermostat to 70 degrees?" "No I just typed that in for the Hell of it, I really want the house at 28 degrees to store frozen meat" "Command accepted, will reset to 28 degrees" NO, NO I dont want that" Blue screen of death, blue lips and blue skin.
