Replacing 10 year system

I have a two story house with a split gas system (10 SEER). The upstairs condensor unit went out and I need to replace it with a 13 SEER unit. The gas furnice is in excellent condition. Can I get by with replacing the evaporator, or should I replace the furnace also.

Pro ably if the heater is in good shape and it delivers the proper CFM.

You will probably have trouble with the coil it will be much larger than the old one, so break out the tools and shears to adapt the new one.

Don't forget to change the line set.

If just going to a 13 SEER A/C, you can keep your current furnace.
