replacimg a condenser fan motor in ac unit


i have a coleman evcon drcs0481bb ac unit at my house i believe the fan blower was bad so i diconected the f48aa68a50 ao smith and took it to a place and they said the replacement for that motor was the ao smith fe6001f.....the problem is this fan has five wires and the old one only had 3 ive hooked it up serveral differnt ways but it doesnt seem to be working

what wires does it have? Can you post a pic of the label on the motor that has the wiring diagram? Did you buy a new capacitor for it as well?

The actual replacement motor only has three wires also. they just gave you one that matches up dimension, amp, volt wise. its not a true replacement motor, more of a replaces many with some wiring adaptions.

the old ao smith had three wires 1 red
1 blk
1 brn


the new ao smith has five wires 1 red
1 blk
1 brn
1 wht
1 brn/wht

they just sold me the fan motor no new capacitor

thk u so much hvac126 4 the great digram, also i was posting this 4 my dad who is attempting to replace is fan bcuz they dont have internet access at his house... he corrected me and said that the new fan did come with a capacitor and he replaced it....he is now going 2 wire it like ur diagram and hopefully all wks good!!!!
