I have a 30 year old Day and Night dual pack unit that has been giving me some problems. AC is still working, but not too well. had a buddy hook up some gauges and take some temperature readings and he is telling me it looks like an internal restriction in the liquid line. Here are the temps and pressures...
suction side pressure 56 lbs
high side pressure 325 lbs
temp going in to compressor 107 degrees
temp going out of compressor 230 degrees
temp out of condenser 135 degrees
temp out of evaporator 56 degrees
(superheat something like 80 degrees?)(not sure what that means)
Outside temp 102, inside temp about 75
I assume that if there is an unidentified restriction, it probably makes more sense to replace the unit then pay for extensive troubleshooting/repairs on a unit this old. Your thoughts? Thanks for your help...
