replace or repair

I have a 30 year old Day and Night dual pack unit that has been giving me some problems. AC is still working, but not too well. had a buddy hook up some gauges and take some temperature readings and he is telling me it looks like an internal restriction in the liquid line. Here are the temps and pressures...

suction side pressure 56 lbs
high side pressure 325 lbs
temp going in to compressor 107 degrees
temp going out of compressor 230 degrees
temp out of condenser 135 degrees
temp out of evaporator 56 degrees
(superheat something like 80 degrees?)(not sure what that means)

Outside temp 102, inside temp about 75

I assume that if there is an unidentified restriction, it probably makes more sense to replace the unit then pay for extensive troubleshooting/repairs on a unit this old. Your thoughts? Thanks for your help...

personally myself i could live with a room temp at 75 , unless the unit is working way to hard , and that you would see an increase in your electric , on the other hand try to get one more summer out of it

Just an FYI prices to replace systems are much cheaper in the fall/winter. This is peak season for a/c replacements, companies will get top dollar. If you can put it off for a couple months you may save a bundle.

unfortunately it is on a rental unit, so I might not have that option.

And how expensive is it to track down and fix a restriction? (assuming that that is what it sounds like to you)

I would not recommend sticking any money into a 30 year old piece of equipment.

Numbers do not make sense. your tech did not measure them right. Anyway, like all other people said, enjor your 75F, wait until the Summer is over then decide what to do.

Not sure why they don't make sense? Pressures? Temps? Can you give me any more info?

How much savings are we talking about? I am getting a quote for a 3 ton Rheem package unit for about 4k installed.
