Replace Expansion Tank

Should this be replaced? There is only this drain valve and a plug towards the back. No air pressure valve?
I read that they should be free of water? I drained about 2 gallons of water out.
Also I think this limit switch is bad it's not cutting the boiler off when temp on t stat is reached?

A. That tank needs to be able to draw air in while its drained, or else, it won't drain.
The water you got out, was just what it took to put it into a vacuum.

B. The second picture doesn't show a limit. Your water temp controls are in the front of your boiler.

Need to test it.
Is it allowing the water temp to rise more then 10 above set temp?
