Removing Gas valve/pilot control

Is it the pin holding the burner in place under the valve the only thing stopping
the valve from revolving free of the manifold?

The manifold is too tight of radius for the new valve to spin around to tighten on it. In order to use it I need to take the dial assembly off but it requires a special bit on the screw.

I found the screw type. Tamper resistant torx. Any reason I should not tamper with it?

Did you try to push the knob in to see if it would clear or does the lower knob body strike the manifold?

Is BOOOM bad? Lol.....just kidding....I don't want to get into the valve just the dial assembly. I will try pushing in the knob and see if it clears.

Thanx for the advice

We have a 4 year old Amana that is the main house heat. This one was put in when they did a build out to heat the master bedroom, bath and half of my man cave and another bedroom. I have a gas fireplace in the Mbedroom so we light it up when we are in there for any length of time.

I did take some pics of the new valve on the manifold. It looks like the cover for the valve and the dial are the only things I'd need to remove temporarily but not take apart the valve itself. There is no other way unfortunately. Sorry they are a lil blurry, they are taken with my phone.
