Removing an existing heating zone
During an addition I had plumber add a heating zone, that later I realized that I did not really need. The older thermostat is in the former master bedroom on the other side of the house. I would like to eliminate the that zone and use the thermostat in the new master bedroom.
Is it something a fairly capable homeowner/handyman could do?
A competetant DIYer should be able to do this.
There is more to it than you may realize, however. There's a maximum delta for the return water. You don't want the return water to be too cool or you'll get condensate on heat exhanger. Not good for a conventional boiler. The easiest solution would be to just wire both zones to the same thermostat.
