relocating furnace

My furnace is 40 yrs old. Located in attached garage. Since i'm going to have to replace the furnace soon, I was wondering if I could relocate it to the center of the house where I have a very large closet. Would that be better as it would be centrally located. I would be moving the water heater also to the central area. instead of the garage. Would this be outrageously expensive? I'm very new at this so please be patient with me. Thank you.

Ayuh,......

I'd think the deciding factor would be How your Plumbing,+ Ducting can be tied into the units at their New location.........

It depends on How the house's infastructure is lain out.......

While my expertice is plumbing and other building trades I am not a heating man, but I do recall hearing some heating men talk about having an unabstructed run so as to limit any bends in the trunk line. This reduces air flow.
