Relief valve on hydronic heat leak after power failue

Hi,
New member from Long Island.

We've got a Weil-Mclain oil fired boiler which was maintained this spring. The system is 2 zone hydronic, and coil for domestic hw.

The system worked fine until Sandy cut power on Monday. I found the pressure relief valve leaking, so I isolated the boiler by closing the feeds to the system, as well as the return from the baseboard.

Currently, the pressure in the system is 0.

When the power comes back on (next week?), is it simply a matter of adding water back in to the system and all is right with the world when everything heats back up, or does this valve need to be looked at?

relief valve should be replaced and system should be checked for proper operating pressures.

there is a reason why the boiler is at 0 pressure....and a reason why relief is leaking....after power is restored ..replace relief valve...check to be sure expanison tank is working....either bladder type..or make sure old style has air in it.....then check for normal operation and pressures..ben sr

Thanks for the replies. This was a new valve, replaced in the Spring under contract.

The power was restored on Sunday. The service tech suggested manually flushing a couple times to seal it. All is working properly.
