recycle heat from heat pump for pool

I am preparing for the inevitable replacement of my old heat pump condenser. When I have the AC on in the house, I would like to be able to use the heat from the condenser to heat my pool water and or preheat water heater water.

Are there any units sold commercially that do this? If yes, what are they? If not, are there conversion kits available that a DIY'er could do (except for the Freon work...)

Thanks in advance,
Steven

They make desuperheaters for heating the water.
Not something your going to DIY, if you want warranty on the new uni.

Also, you want a new indoor unit also.

13 SEER Heat pump outdoor units don't work well on old 10 SEER indoor units.

Thank you very much for the reply!

Do you have any experience with any of the desuperheaters? Any that you can recommend?

Not enough to recomend any one brand over another.

Most won't really have much effect on a swimming pool.

But, they can lower your bill for domestic hot water.

Thanks again. I just had a long chat with one of the manufactures and he echoed your statement that it will not have much effect on a pool. It looks like I could save a bundle on home water heating bills so I think I will still charge ahead with that plan.

I have a 10 seer condenser so I should be able to recapture a significant amount of heat when I run the AC. Being in Florida I run the AC at least 6-8 months a year, so if I could turn off the water heater during that time that would be sweet.

Anyway, thanks again...
