Some areas, the supply houses will require a contractors lisence.

Your old system will need the refrigerant recovered for you to remove it.

All of the name brand mini's are good units.

My current unit is a Sanyo only 3 years old The controller board in the outdoor unit is bad.Have had nothing but hassels trying to get the board as a homeowner.Have had three different contractors quote prices, they are not being reasonable.Decided that i will replace the unit myself.Should i stay with Sanyo and purchase the same system? It seems to be a good sysem, could this controller board be a fluke problem?Or is there a problem with the Sanyo product?

May have happened because of an electrical surge.

Sanyo is fairly reliable.

You'll have the same basic problem with parts for most other brands also.

Try sites of companies(not the manufacturer) that sell Sanyo to DIYers.

Alpine, Desco etc.
They should be able to get the part for you.
