Question on installing an Honeywell RTH6350 programmable thermostat.


I am switching from a Trane XR401 non-programmable thermostat to the Honeywell thermostat, for my heat pump. The terminal slots differ between the two thermostats. I am checking to make sure the mapping below is correct.

Terminal (Trane) - Function - Wire - Terminal (Honeywell)
R - 24Volt Hot - red - R
W2 - Heating (2nd) - black - E
W1 - Heating (1st) - white - AUX
Y - Cooling - yellow - Y
G - Fan - green - G
O - Switch over valve - orange - O/B
B - 24 Volt - blue - do not use

Yes, there are electric coils inside the air handler.

then your wiring should be correct. you may need to jumper E and AUX together if it does not keep temp
