PSI Question

The PSI on my hot water boiler is 0.

Over the summer for no apparent reason, my expansion tank began leaking. I'm not sure if it was the actual tank or the valve. Anyway, I was a dummy and ignored it. It continues to drip on occasion.

I turned on the heat recently and noticed that I was not getting heat in all 4 zones. In fact, I never know which zone will be giving me heat. Today I looked at the gauges and noticed that the PSI was O. I think it was normally around 14 or so.

What could be the reason for the 0 PSI? Is there anything I can do to fix it? I'd like to exhaust all options before calling for a repair.

I am by no means a pro, but you would not be getting any heat at all if there is no pressure. A leak either on the tank or the valve would be the reason it can not build any pressure, with no pressure there would be no water moving or at least not enough to do anything.

I would not run the boiler at all until the pressure issue can be addressed. The valve and or the tank will be much cheaper than spending 5k on a new boiler!

The first thing you will need to do is get your expansion tank replaced. I would also reccomend having a HVAC company check boiler over good. When you start loosing expansion tanks, it usually means you have hard water. Have them run a ph test and let them reccomend a boiler treatment. I believe you will be happy with the results.
