Proper installation of heat pump

I have a barely 2 year old completely new 15 SEER heat pump/ air handler that had not been cooling well. I set up a service call with my installer. Turns out I had a loose fitting on the metering tube on the indoor TXV. My technician said that the problem was "factory related", and added 2 pounds of R410A. My repair expense was $271.

My question is, should this connection have been checked at the time of the install, and is this repair fee reasonable?

Normally that would have been caught during the initial set up, he should have done a pressure test before releasing the freon. Between the pressure test and the vacuum the leak should have been found.

Response to Acomfort

Thanks, Acomfort, for your quick and honest response.

I am tired of contractors that don't stand behind their work and/or suppliers. I have already spoken to my installer, who has agreed to accept whatever amount that I deem fair as full payment. Your response has made it much easier to arrive at a figure that I believe is both fair and reasonable.

I wish you well in life and your future business endeavors.

Thanks again,

Albag
