I have a 2,100 sq. ft. ranch that I need to run the ductwork in. Its a long rectangle (25 x 80) with one room that sticks out off of the side. The furnace will be right in the middle. The hard part is that half of the length (40) will have an attic and the other half is all vaulted ceilings with no attic. So for the section that does have an attic would it be best to run a metal duct and tap off with flexible to each bedroom? I know it makes it hard without seeing a plan, but basically there will be 40 of duct in the attic branching off to 6 rooms (all 9 ceilings in this area). So the attic half is 25 x 40. From where the furnace is there is 10 to the right and then 30 to the left. The main question I have is the proper duct size for the main trunk and then each branch down the trunk line. The other half of the house is a different story now. Im not sure what to do about that. Maybe a soffit to run the ducts in?
Anyway sorry for rambling on. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
That's what I figured. I have attached a link that shows the floor plan. I have decided that I wall run the ducts in the crawl space. I just need help figuring out sizes and step downs. Figuring all ceilings are 9'
