Problem with Utica boiler starting

Hi
I have a Utica gas boiler model M175AGB...Ive been having a problem with the unit starting for a long time now. The unit will click (spark) 5-6 times then I hear a different click which I am guessing is the gas valve, Then the pilot light goes out. This has been happening for a long time now I just failed to address it..The unit comes on eventually but I want to get it running right before it totally dies on me..Could this be the temperature rod that sits over the pilot? I'm guessing that maybe its not getting hot enough or its not working properly and making the unit shut off the gas completely as it thinks it has no pilot to ignite the gas...I know alittle but not enough. Please correct me if I'm wrong...Dont want to replace parts I dont have too...Any advise would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks! Bill

check the sparkpilot: I have a utica too. Mine is 20+ years old. I replaced it andcould not get a replacement sparkpilot so I had to get a standing pilot installed. No issues starting now.

If it's snapping/sparking and not lighting it means the spark is not at the pilot hood. Mostly likely the insulation around the sparkpilot is cracked (i've replaced three of these over the past ten years) and is grounding/sparking at the flange.
