Pro to Pro and interested DIYs...
I'd like to run a "what if " by the Pros and DIYs..
Assuming you have a second floor ac drain that has to go straight down the middle of the back of the house. No gutter between exit point of drain down to grade. How are you going to do it and what difficulties would there be to consider both present and future, and how would you address those issues? |
Going to make a cover out of paint grip. Pipe extends a couple inches past the cover for cleaning access when needed.
|
How difficult would it be, using a condensate pump, to go up, then out to the eave, then into a gutter. This assumes there is an accessible attic.
Obviously, this is an a/c drain only, since you are in MI. Precludes using for HE furnace. V |
Could you possibly tap into one of the vent stacks in the attic? Not sure if it's code but it might be doable.

Like I said this is just a 'What if"
The problem to solve for is how is Assuming you have a second floor ac drain that has to go straight down the middle of the back of the house. No gutter between exit point of drain down to grade. How are you going to do it and what difficulties would there be to consider bo the present and future, and how would you address those issues? One addition: What material would you use for the condensate.. |
Stainless Steel pipe 18" round strapped to the side of the house. I would also install gutters and have them MT into my 18" round stainless steel pipe.
And I would charge the homeowner 10,000 dollars for the drain line and install the gutters for free. |
