Portable AC in basement, no place for exhaust....
I was wondering if I could use a Y joint where my hot water heater and HVAC exhaust go to the roof vent, to be able to tie in my exhaust for my portable AC unit? There are no windows in the room that I am trying to cool and I do not want to heat the rest of my basement by simply cooling one room. Any suggestions on what to do? Thanks

No you can not tie any vent to a furnace or water heater flue. Drill through to the outside.

I am currently growing Shiitake mushrooms in the room I am trying to air condition. This is only a temporary hobby which lasts about 11 weeks and I do not want to drill to the outside of the house. Any other suggestions?

Assuming you figure it out, I think you propose to cool a basement room without cooling the rest of the basement. Are you building a condensation or mold problem (a) between the rooms walls and the basement foundation or (b) on the walls that partition this room off from the rest of the basement?

Over heat the other basement room/rooms.
Or stop growing mushrooms.

Since we can't see your basement. A drawing of its layout would help.

You can rent water cooled acs. All you need is a water supply and a floor drain.

But tell me, I thought mushrooms needed high humidity to grow. The ac wil de humidify the air.

Isn't that going to interrupt your project?
