Pool heatpump
I am still doing research and on the fence about gas or heatpump. Operating cost seems to be about even right now and due to large newly discovered US supplies gas is getting cheaper. On the other hand electricty is going up. Also anyone who says HP heat " is from the air and that is not controlled by companies or corporations" may want to try turning off their electric, which is controlled by a corporation, and see who much heat you extract from the air then. Also take a look at the operating current of the HP. If I go with a heat pump I pay x amount of dollars to the eletric company who currently produces most electricity from coal. If I go with gas I pay about the same amount of operating cost to the gas company, have lower upfront cost, heat the pool much faster, have simpler and cheaper future repair cost if needed. I also have to take into consideration that being that HP is much slower than gas I have to run the pool pump longer to get the same amount of heat. I haven't ruled out the HP yet but it looks like the numbers are starting to go the way of gas.
