Please help me stop my oil fired boiler from banging at the end of each cycle!

I have an oil fired boiler in my home- age unknown was here when we bought the place over 7 years ago- recently it started making a very loud banging noise in different zones at the end of each cycle. Sometimes it is on the main floor other times the bang seems to come from the lower level- please help me figure this one out- is there not enough or maybe too much pressure in the system or maybe the water is too hot and needs to be lowered?
all help is appreciated.... I need a good nights sleep
thanks shell

Is this a steam or hot water boiler?

could be an after drip in the nozzle, try starting and stoping it 10 times to work the air out of the nozzle line. use the reset button wait for the flame to come on then shut off. do this 10 times.

Is this a zoned system(you have more then one thermostat).

If so, some zone vavles close too quickly. So that you get a bang from the waters sudden stop.

I think you are on the right track with the zone issue- question is how do i fix it- it seems to be an issue with the relay, but i have no idea how to correct it.- your thoughts?

Are you saying the noise comes from a relay or just when the relay opens? Also do you have zone valves or just a single pump or both?
