When the furnace is off the PSI is around 8, when it turns on it goes over 30 psi and then releases water.

I collect over a pail of water per day? What is the problem and how can I fix it. This boiler is driving me crazy!

I would suspect your expansion tank is waterlogged. If you have a steel tank type of expansion tank you need to drain it down. If you have a bladder tank either the bladder broke or it lost its air.

The expansion tank (looks like a horizontal torpedo) may be full of water and needs to be drained. If full it has no air space for the pressure to be absorbed when the boiler heats up. Look above the boiler for one in the joist space. May be best to get a boiler guy to do the job as the system may need filling and someone experienced to do that properly.
