hvactech, but how many homeowners understand that, when the tech is trying to teach them how to use the thermostat that was chosen by the tech, because it allows for proper operation. Most thermostats out there, do not allow for enough fine tuning. That is why I chose the one that I did, so I can adjust swing & diff, or switch from Fast recovery or Slow/Economic recovery, which the later is better for Heat pump & geo systems, not convential.
Jack, I know that on the South side of my house, it can get 30 to 40 degrees warmer, due to radiant heat, from the Sun shining on that side. Even though we have two mature trees on the West side, and one very mature on our East side, the odd thing is, the North East corner that our bedroom is in, gets no direct sun during the morning to noon hours, compared to the South East corner, which is our Living room side on the front of the house. We have mature trees also in the neighbor to the North & South of us, but the North side corner for me, would be the best.
If you have no trees around you, it could be a toss, depending on the layout of your house, and shade around. You may have to find a "sweet" spot either to the East or West side, like my house, that it is not too cool on the North side, but it is not too warm from sunrise or sunset.
