PAYNE PY1PNB060115AAAA Inducer Wheel Failure. Help please!

Hi,

I have a Payne PY1PNB060115AAAA that began rumbling severely and loudly. I called a repairman and they came out and said the inducer wheel had failed and that to fix it the entire assembly would need to be replaced for $500-$700. This nearly floored me as the unit is just 6 yrs old and frankly I don't have that kind of money right now. I have found the wheel online for about $70 (not been able to find the assembly yet). Can it be fixed by just replacing the wheel and is it straightforward enough that I could do it? $70 vs. $700 sounds a lot better to me. Even if I could find the entire assembly for $300 and install it myself that would be a tremendous help. Is it that complicated? Any insight / suggestions would be geratly appreciated. Thanks in advance for any help!

Yes you can just replace the wheel, sometimes they are very difficult to get off though.
