Outside vent to return air

I have an outside vent that runs to the return air duct of the furnace. Last month I had a patio installed. Didn't realize it until afterwards that the patio steps were built right up to the intake hood of this vent. I'm having a difficult time removing the hood so I can reconfigure or relocate the vent. Can you offer any suggestions how I can get it off? Can't find any screws rivets that may be holding it.
Thanks
Larry

DO NOT FOOL WITH THAT....that vent needs to be as clear as it was prior to the decking steps..if it is intake "sucking air" into the furnace run it under the decking straight out with an elbow down and screen.make sure it is accessable with snow coming if you get hit to clear it,your talking about your families safety on this item bigtime...

If it is truely connected to the return ductwork it doesn't matter, but if it is an intake for combustion in the furnace then just disconnect it and run a new line to a clear spot and just stuff up the old duct with a sheetmetal cap.

This is a solid brick patio. not a deck. This vent does run into the return air duct to the furnace.
How do you add a photo to this post?
