Default Outside ac sound reducing wall

I have the general idea of how to build a sound wall for my outside ac unit but how do I figure out how much room is need around the unit to keep it functioning properly? I thought of building just two walls to block the sound but should I include a roof or will just the two walls suffice? Any help is appreciated.

NO roof.

The install instructions should have required clearances in it.
Some want 18", some 24".

The sound can be absorbed or reflected, and there are commercially built enclosures for this purpose.
