Ouside Unit on. Inside Fan off

I have a Goodman A/C unit. The inside fan does not come on when the outside unit does. Sometimes it works, but sometimes the fan just does not come on and the unit will freeze up. I replaced the thermostat, but have the same problem. With the old thermostat, I could simply thump the mecury tubes and the fan would come on. The new one is digital, so I cannot do that and the fan will not come on. This really only happens with A/C. It does not seem to be an issue with Heat or Emergency heat, just A/C. I was thinking that there is some relay on the A/C unit somewhere that tells the fan when to come on but I have no idea where to look or what to look for. I had a similar issue with an old GE A/C unit and I fixed it by replacing the relay, but this Goodman is so different, I have no idea if it would have the same type of relay or what it looks like

if you are down at the furnace with the AC running take a thin wire and jump the R to G within the furnace.if you don't get an ON reaction(with the jump) it is the relay on the board..this jumping would be the same as putting the FAN in the on postion at the stat instead of auto.

Ouside Unit on. Inside Fan off

I just had the same problem with a Goodman/Janitrol unit a few weeks ago and wrote the check for the bill today.

Biggles is right on with the test. Those units seem to have a high failure rate on the fan relay.

I let mine defrost and finally got the stat to "fan on" and left it run til the repairman came out...

Thank you so much for the information. Where is the "board" located? Is the a DIY fix?

I'd ask:
Do the relay contacts fail, or the relay coil? Depending on what fails it might be wise to buy a heftier relay or put in fusing even if it's not what the manu put in there.
Is something else overstressing this relay and it failing is just the symptom?
Is there a service bulletin/recall on this part?
