** Opinions on a new GOODMAN AC unit **

We have a goodman distributor here that will charge a fee for warranty parts if the unit isn't purchased from them even if you are a contractor. I have returned parts for warranty here . they look up the ser / mod # and tell me that the unit wasn't purchased from them. That's when I have to pay the fee. Of course I pass it along

Again, not having a warranty might beOK for me for good equipment sold for the right price .

Edit- Most of the prices that I see online are not low enough for me to consider the risk (even with the "sellers warranty" ).

At some significantly lower price that what I have seen do far, I might go for it (essentially buying the equipment AS-IS).

If you can get someone to make repairs & warranty parts for you. then go for it. I don't warranty parts for DIY'ERS , install units, replace parts, for customers that purchased their equipment or parts

As long as it is in the warranties window of time, it is covered.

IF...you expect to call Goodman and get any satisfaction of warranty service, you will be sorely disappointed.

ZootJeff is mostly right. Consumers have the right to buy anything from anyone. Blocking free trade is a very unpopular thing to try and do in court.

BTW...That statement on the Goodman site is not there to discourage online sales. It is there to pacify contractors who complain to mother Goodman about online sales.

Buying online is not for everybody, but it can be done and with great success. Just know that there are risks.

Dont LIE to these people!!!!!!!!! if you buy online, the model number is different. so they can tell.. a local distributer will not cover warrenties. if bought online. GOOMAN will not give them their money back for that part. I dont care how good you in with the distributer their not going to give you a part for FREE that they cant get their part replaced or money back on it. DOnt work that way BUD... I have had several customers think I was not honest about it. .so I took them straight to goodman distributer. that I have been using for 10yrs.... he looked and model number SAID NO this was purchased online we cannot COVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!. no you can if the person you bought from still in business he can cover the warrenty. but weve done that Too.. Takes up to 2 weeks to get the parts... SO here is the moral.. you think you getting better price online but in Longrun when something goes wrong... that price dont look so good... if you buy from a contractor.. sure he is making little markup. but that insures. a 1yr labor warrenty,,, and you can get parts within day or two.. NOT 2 weeks... you get what you pay for... so you pay up front and get it done the right way...

or pay in the REAR.. which is wrong way....

The model number is the same weather bought on line or from a contractor. Its the serial number that will trace back to what distributor the manufacturer sold it to. And from that they can determine what type of sell it was.
