I have a fuel oil furnace with a clay lined masonry chimney. I'l like to set a wood fired hot air funace along side of the oil furnace. Is there any reason I can't tie into the same chimney ahead of the thru wall thimble, but after the draft inducer on the output of the furnace? Would this cause any problems for either of the heat sources?
I know a wood stove can't share a flue with any other source. I'm not sure if that's the case for a wood furnace that's in the basement though. I'd guess it follows the same rules, but not sure. I'd ask the manufacturer.
