Question

oil burner to propane conversion

I have an oil fired furnace and I understand that there are retrofit propane burner heads that can be installed. Does anyone out there know manufacturers who make these?
thanks Mike

before you do anything else call your propane company and have them come out and look at it or give them the serial number to check for conversion parts, most will do this for free and even do the change over as part of the hook up service.Don't make the mistake of taking someones word that it can be converted,I did.I now have two non working furnaces and a 30ft long trench in my yard because I was told yes it can be converted.I made the trench for the line, poured a pad for the tank, and disconnected the furnace.then when they came to do the hook up and conversion I was told they don't make the parts for converting my units anymore.Your propane company can tell you just what parts you need, where to get them and if they are available in your area or do they need to be ordered, and who can install them if you need that.

When converting, many manufacturers pack the conversion fittings inside the waterheater box before shipping - typically in the instructions package. Make sure you check for the fittings before disposing of the packing materials. Also, I found an interesting website for propane information, address: http://www.localpropaneservice.com
