A.O smith Universal run caps


We been using A.O smith Universal motors and it comes with Universal run cap. Do you guys use that or get a regular run cap the hp is asking for. I had seeing using the Universal run cap the amps are higher then regular run cap

Not sure what you're speaking of tator. Have not seen a cap come in the box with a motor. Can you clarify?

A.O smith Universal run caps


We get them from Granger and it A.O smith motor that has 4 different hp as long you put right rating run cap. It comes with run cap that has 4 sets of rating.

are those ratings stamped on the cap ie: 5 mfd/7.5 etc? If not I would stay with the one they supply as it is matched for that motor.

If its one of those big ol universal caps im thinking about theyre pretty pricey,maybe install a normal cap on there and save the universal one for an emergency

I know pros who use them as temporary replacements while a new cap is on order.

Other wise why not just keep a good supply of caps on hand? They are the least expensive of all the stock a pro carries,

I have good supply of caps. Just when I get this motors they come with universal run caps. I guess you all had never came across this kind of universal a.o. smith motors.
